About Us
Heretaunga Park, Upper Hutt
Where Every Child Belongs, Grows, and Shines
Since opening our doors in 2006, Heretaunga Park Early Childhood Centre has been a warm, welcoming home away from home for local families. Nestled in a quiet Upper Hutt neighbourhood, we’re a privately owned, single-centred business, which means our focus is firmly on the children, not lining pockets. Our owner, Angela, is often on-site supporting the team, getting to know families, and lending a hand wherever needed. We’ve created a space where children feel safe, supported, and free to be themselves - and where parents know their little ones are genuinely cared for.
Our vision is simple: nurturing the leaders of tomorrow by supporting each child’s unique journey today. We believe that when whānau, teachers, and tamariki work together in partnership, incredible things happen.
Every Child is Valued, Seen, and Supported
We recognise that each child is an individual with their own interests, strengths, and ways of learning. Whether they’re outgoing or quiet, energetic or cautious, neurodivergent or navigating unique challenges, every child has a place here.
Our experienced teaching team works closely with families and, when needed, with external support services, to ensure every child receives the care and guidance they need to thrive.
Meaningful Learning Through Play, Curiosity, and Connection
Our rich, play-based programme is full of opportunities for children to explore their ideas, build confidence, and connect with others. Group time, music and movement, sensory play, and open-ended resources allow for creativity and expression every day.
We foster quality interactions between teachers and children that support social, emotional, and cognitive growth - all in a safe and stimulating environment that’s just as fun as it is meaningful.
A Smooth and Supported Transition to School
We take a proactive approach to school readiness, gently preparing children for the next step in their learning journey. Our transition-to-school programme focuses on building independence, confidence, and key competencies - helping children leave Heretaunga Park feeling proud, capable, and excited for what’s next.
We Honour and Celebrate Diversity
We are committed to equity, inclusion, and cultural respect. Guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we ensure all children and families - regardless of culture, background, gender, or ability - feel welcome, valued, and included in our centre.
We’re proud to celebrate the many cultures, languages, and perspectives that make our community so special.
